Fix Mediocre Piano Marks
If you are a student or parent frustrated by stagnant results, it is time to fix mediocre piano marks by diagnosing the “silent mistakes” that hold scores back. Many students find themselves stuck in the 70s or low 80s, despite practicing for hours. This plateau usually happens because the student is practicing the notes but ignoring the Musicianship—the ear training, the rhythmic vitality, and the tonal balance between the hands.
Mediocre marks are often the result of “unconscious habits.” A student may not realize their left hand is overpowering their right, or that their phrasing is “flat.” To fix this, you need a “Musical Mirror.” Our learning resources provide the diagnostic tools to identify these weaknesses. By focusing on ear training intervals and chord recognition through tools like Tone Savvy, students begin to “hear” their own playing with the ears of an examiner.
The transition from a “mediocre” score to a “Distinction” score starts with a change in practice strategy. It involves moving away from repetitive, mindless playing and toward deliberate, focused “fixes.” When you stop practicing for time and start practicing for results, your marks will naturally reflect that new level of excellence.
